Why is facetime echoing

Give it a few seconds when its off, then turn it back on again. To be safe, turn off your Wi-Fi completely, turn it back on, then locate the network and try to connect again. Although simple, these restarts tend to fix this sort of issue in most cases. Namely, turn your data off, connect to a Wi-Fi network, and attempt to FaceTime. When it comes to software issues, there have been reports over the years by many users of iPhones of various models that an iOS system update, even a small one, may have caused the echo and other sound issues during FaceTime.

Alternatively, if there have been no recent reports of an update related to FaceTime, there may well be a hardware issue with your phone. This is your last resort. With any luck, your phone will be returned to you quickly, so that you can get back to FaceTiming properly! And that concludes our basic guide for removing the echo on your iPhone device!

This can cause an annoying echo loop. Simply turn down the speaker volume. If you're having trouble hearing the person on the other end, use the iPhone's headset. Piping the sound directly into your ears will prevent the microphone from transmitting any unwanted sound. Believe it or not, the way that you hold your iPhone can be a big factor in whether or not you're experiencing an echo. Cupping the bottom of the iPhone with your hand can inadvertently create a mini echo-chamber.

When holding your iPhone during a call, keep your palm and fingers well away from the microphone. Hold the edges of the frame only.

This very basic solution can prove to be effective. Using an iPhone in conjunction with a Bluetooth audio system in a car has resulted in echo problems for some users. Since buying it the other party in a FT call hears an echo. This happens at even low volume levels. That is to say, even at volumes where I cannot adequately hear the other party they still get an echo of THEIR speech. And reading this thread I verified that the "Use ambient noise reduction" box is checked under System Preferences.

In addition to ensuring the "Use ambient noise reduction" box is checked you might want to mess around with the "input volume" on both the mac you are using and the mac of the person that you are FaceTiming with. I've messed around with this and I've had some sucess. Also ensure that it is not the room you are in that is causing the echo. My GF often FaceTimes me from her room which echos a lot.

I'm not sure why this seems to be related to MBAs? Feb 24, PM. Sep 21, AM in response to sberman In response to sberman. We can't seem to solve the Facetime echo problem. All my friends seem to be having the same issue. Some are using iPhones and others are using computers. I have a Logitech C Webcam and a soundmatters speaker. I am running Sierra on a Mac Mini. We have fooled around with the input in the Sound preferences to no avail.

We do not have a place in input to check ambient noise reduction. The only time Facetime seems to work without an echo is when a cousin is running a Windows machine. I have talked to Apple, and a senior advisor says there is a bug.
