This isn't weird at first I thought it was totally weird ; it's a very normal and natural way to meet people, and you should just go with it. Listen, if you start CrossFit, there's a pretty high likelihood that you're going to be one of those people who get very into it.

It's just like that. Maybe it's because everything is so quantifiable the time it takes you to do certain workouts, the amount of weight you lift and so there's instant gratification in improvement. Maybe it's because CrossFit gyms tend to have really strong communities, so you'll find yourself spending more time around other people who do CrossFit, which means you'll talk about it often and it'll start to feel like something that is a very important part of your life.

These things are fine and probably inevitable, but if you fall too far into it, it can feel like getting better at CrossFit is the most important part of your life. Wanting to get better is great, and getting stronger is really cool and healthy and worthwhile. But before you get too inspired by the sport while watching the athletes compete on TV and decide to dedicate your life to it , you should know the good—and the bad—of CrossFit.

There are a lot of really rad things about CrossFit, which involves a lot of sprinting, gymnastics, plyometrics and Olympic lifting and is not all that different from 12 Minute Athlete workouts. It also has an awesome community, with people supporting each other no matter what their experience level. Though most CrossFit workouts tend to last only about 10 to 20 minutes the really brutal ones are 40 minutes or more , the whole class takes about an hour including the skill learning and warm up.

Plus, most gyms recommend you get there 10 to 15 minutes early to stretch and warm your muscles up, and highly suggest you stay after to foam roll and stretch post workout. But still, doing CrossFit regularly increases your chances of getting a shoulder injury by, well, a lot. Being strong and fit is awesome. But for most of us? The constant heavy lifting in CrossFit tends to build wide, bulky shoulders and a square, curve-less midriff in those of us already with an athletic build speaking from personal experience here.

Now, by performing a hand-full of workouts, we can accurately calculate how fit an athlete is at any given time.

In fact, on average, it takes 19 Months to improve from a level 50 to a level In short, eat well and get to your CrossFit Affiliate a few times a week. Advanced CrossFitters On average, it takes about months to improve your Fitness Level by 10 levels. This rate holds true until you get to Level To qualify for Sanctioned Events, you need to be near a level Elite CrossFitters To get to a level 95, which is near Games level, it takes about 6 additional months.

As your level gets higher and higher, it becomes more and more difficult to continue increasing your level.
